This year marks 50 years of Adena High School Girls Basketball.

During their inaugural 1973-74 season, the team went (10-2). After losing the first 2 games, the first program win would come during the third game of the season. With that victory, the Lady Warriors would win 62 consecutive games, including regular season and tournament play, which did not involve an OHSAA State Final Four at that time. That came in the 1975-76 season, where Adena won the first-ever OHSAA State Championship in Class A.

The 62 consecutive game winning streak came to a halt on March 26, 1977 in the regional finals in Dayton as the Warriors were attempting to defend their State Championship from the previous season.

The 62 consecutive game winning streak is tied for the 4th longest in OHSSA girls basketball history.

The Lady Warriors won their second state championship in 1993-94.

Adena’s 1994 state title came without the benefit of even winning the SVC Championship that season, as the conference crown went to Unioto. The Lady Warriors went on a tournament rampage, which included big wins over Oak Hill and Wheelersburg in the District Tournament, which featured All Ohioans and future D-1 college players Jamie Lewis and Amy Hughes. Lewis went on to play at Ohio State and Hughes for both Xavier and UConn.
