Chillicothe’s Jacey Harding scored a school record 44 points to aid the Lady Cavs 88-85 overtime win over Rock Hill Wednesday in a game played at University of Rio Grande.
However, Harding’s effort wasn’t all that was needed to beat the pesky Red Women’s attempt to knock-off Chillicothe. The Lady Cavs needed Kiera Archer’s buzzer-beater three-pointer to end regulation at 77-77, to keep Chillicothe’s hopes alive.
Chillicothe also needed 26 points from Avery Erslan, which included 6 three-point goals. Harding’s single game record of 44 points (26 in the second half), tops the previous record of 40 points set by Abby (Bunstine) Trotter.
In the tough loss, Rock Hill had three players in double figures, led by Hadyn Bailey and Hazley Mathews- each with 22 points, and Lola Hankins with 15.
Chillicothe improved to (7-2) and Rock Hill drops to (8-3) on the season.
