ARC & OVRDC Have Made Major Impact Since 1966

(Portsmouth) – Since the inception of the Appalachian Regional Commission in 1966, the Ohio Valley Regional Development Commission has assisted in obtaining over $118,894,558 for area communities from Federal and State Appalachian ARC grant awards.

This funding has leveraged over $315,086,140 in other local, state, and federal funds. 

“The ARC program has made an incredible difference in our region with a return on investment of $3 dollars for every dollar invested.”

The ARC covers 13 states, while OVRDC encompasses twelve counties in Southern Ohio. The region is populated by approximately 670,000 residents and spans 6,022 square miles. There are 171 townships, 70 villages, and 9 cities.
