Chillicothe Post 757 Sweeps To Share of SCOL Legion Championship

Chillicothe Post 757 swept a doubleheader over Hillsboro Post 129 by 11-1 and 2-0 scores, enabling them to share the SCOL League Champion for the second consecutive year. 

Their (5-1) league record matches that of Portsmouth Post 23 for the co-championship.

Kaden Riffe worked five innings in the first game giving up one earned run on six hits. Max Brooks pitched one inning of relief for Post 757, giving up no hits with one strikeout.

Game #2 starting pitcher Reid Mengerink gave up no runs in 1.2 inning, giving way to Nick Burns who worked 4.1 innings, striking out 10 batters and giving up on runs on on hits.

Closer Luke Perigo threw nine pitches in the final inning, striking out two batters.

Post 757 Baseball now heads to the “Gopher Classic” in Minnesota this weekend to participate in the largest American Legion Tournament in the country. The Gopher Classic brings in 96 American Legion Baseball teams from about 15 states and Canada every year. The schedule for the Gopher Classic is below – the top team from each of the 16 divisions goes on to play Monday, July 12th, and Tuesday, July 13th.

The Region 5 American Legion Tournament will be held later this month, with the winner advancing to the Ohio American Legion Tournament in Lancaster.
