The annual Chillicothe Handbag Hullaballoo is coming in September benefiting Ronald McDonald House Charities. While the night is fun for those attending or playing the matching raffle game virtually, it’s all about helping fund the world’s largest RMDH located near Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus.
In 2020, 48 families and 127 individuals from Pickaway, Pike and Ross Counties were served by the Ronald McDonald House of Central Ohio. Overall, the stays tallied 828 nights at a total cost of $82,800.
The Chillicothe Handbag Hullaballoo event offsets that cost to help families stay for free, allowing them to be close to their child while hospitalized at Nationwide Children’s. Last year, the event raised more than $38,000.
The 2021 Handbag Hullaballoo will be held at the Christopher Conference Center on September 16th. The in-house event is a sellout, but a companion virtual event was launched last year due to the pandemic. Players can participate virtually for $25 each. Up for grabs, high-end, brand name designer handbags from Kate Spade, Michael Kors, Coach and more. Participants purchase game booklets and work to match randomly drawn words. Those who match shout “Hullabaloo” and they’re in line to win one of the nearly 30 handbags to be awarded.
