Hoban Edges Bloom Carroll For D-2 State Baseball Championship

MSL Champ Bloom Carroll lost a 2-1, 10 inning heartbreaker in the OHSAA Division 2 State Baseball Championship Game, Sunday in Akron.

The game was scoreless until the top of the fourth inning, when Hoban took a 1-0 lead until Bloom Carroll answered with their lone run of the game in the bottom of the 6th, to even the score at 1-1.

(24-9) Hoban scored the eventual game winner in the top of the 10th.

The line score had Hoban with 2 runs, 5 hits, 1 error and 7 left on base. Bloom Carroll had 1 run on 6 hits, 1 error and also stranded 7 base runners.

D. Walsh picked up the win for Hoban, working 4 innings in relief, yielding only 1 base hit. Bloom Carroll’s Nic Feasel suffered the loss in relief, giving up 1 run on 2 hits in 2 innings of work. Josh Moore had started the game for the Bulldogs, giving up 1 run in 8 innings.

The Bulldogs advanced to Sunday’s final with a 4-0 win over Hamilton Badin in the state semi.

Bloom Carroll concludes the season at (28-6) and state runner-up.
