There’s new royalty in Ashville as Katie Reynard was crowned Miss Ashville 4th of July.

“I love this festival and get so excited about it every year” she told the crowd of about 200 who fought through a rain storm to see the crowning. The first two rounds of the competition were held at the bandstand in Ashville Village Park, but was forced indoors to the Ashville Elementary gymnasium as the rains began to fall.

Reynard is involved as a Fellowship of Christian Athletes leader and a member of the Teays Valley Swimming, Track & Field and Volleyball programs. She’s also a lifeguard and involved in 4-H raising and showing hogs and rabbits at the Pickaway County Fair. She hopes to become a doctor in the future.

“We ran fast” Reynard told Litter Media in the post-pageant interview. “I’ve never seen so many girls in heels running. We were trying to get out of that rain as it started downpouring on us – it was eventful for sure.”

Reynard is the 16-year-old daughter of Brandi & Jeff Reynard.

On the court are 1st Attendant, Kadie Meddock and 2nd Attendant, Jenna Pence.

Pence was crowned first and said it took her by surprise. “I forgot my number and I was likely ‘Oh my gosh, number 3… that’s me!”

Meddock said she wasn’t so sure her number would be called “because everyone did so well with their speeches, and I was so excited to hear my number. I’m so ready for this experience.”

The experience Meddock referred to is all the travel the Queen and Court will do over the coming year representing Ashville across the Buckeye State.

Meddock is the 16-year-old daughter of Kelly & Michael Meddock. She’s a member of the Teays Valley Football and competition cheer squads. She hopes to attend college, go to a beauty school and eventually start her own salon. Pence is the 15-year-old daughter of Christy & Chris Pence. She’s active in Future Farmers of America, 4-H and is a member of the Track & Field and Volleyball programs at Teays Valley. She has hopes of one day becoming a teacher or a lawyer.
