Lady Shermans Win Battle of SVC-FAC Leaders

Article Presented By Horizon Connects

The girls basketball leaders of both the Scioto Valley Conference and Frontier Athletic Conference squared off in non-conference action Wednesday, with the SVC leader ruling the night. Unioto’s Lady Shermans of the SVC walloped FAC leader and previously unbeaten Jackson, 72-37.

Unioto took control early with an 8-0 lead and never trailed the entire game. The Lady Ironmen got as close as 12-9 late in the first quarter, but a scoring run for Unioto put them back up by double digits to end the quarter 20-10.

By halftime, Unioto led 34-22, and Jackson was only able to get the margin under 10 points once more before the Lady Tanks blasted their way to the lop-sided 72-37 win.

Unioto was led by Amaris Betts with 20 points, followed by Milee Smith’s 15 points and 10 from Alexis Book.

Jackson’s T.J. Carpenter was their leader with 16 points and Kenzie Davis added 10.

Unioto improves to (9-0) overall while Jackson falls to (8-1). The Lady Shermans are scheduled to have another big test among Division 2 powers, as they will travel to unbeaten Bloom Carroll on December 30th.
