ZT Pulls Away From Piketon In 2nd Half For SVC Hoops Lead

The Pioneers of Zane Trace pulled away from a 24-19 halftime lead, en-route to a 68-48 win at Piketon on Friday. ZT’s record improves to (4-0/4-1) as they stand alone at the top of the SVC with Paint Valley falling to Westfall, 57-41.

Zane Trace came roaring out of the starting gate Friday, taking a 12-2 lead after the first quarter. Piketon rallied to within 20-18, only to see the Pioneers close the half on a 4-1 run for a 24-19 lead at the break.

The Pioneers made their move to pull away in the third quarter, outscoring the Redstreaks 25-14 for a (49-33) lead after three periods. That lead was extended to 20 in the final of 68-48.

Zane Trace was led by Xzander Ream and Nalin Robinson, scoring 25 and 24 points respectively. They both were the McDonald’s Players of the Game. Brock Jarrell and Kyle Stonerock each added 6 points, Landon Robinson had 3, while Carter Langley and Noah Houston each had 2 points.

Piketon’s Brent McGuire led them with 20 points with freshman Bo Henry scoring 14. Garrett Legg added 5 points, while Weston Bloss, Wayde Fout and Declan Davis each had 3 points.

Piketon drops to (1-3/2-4) on the season.
