(Chillicothe) – The scheduled grand opening of the McArthur Gardens in Chillicothe is being delayed, according to Integrated Services Housing Program Supervisor Kelsea Todd. She notified Litter Media and others about the delayed opening in an email sent Friday afternoon.

“We just found out that due to unforeseen circumstances, the grand opening of McArthur Gardens on Tuesday the 23rd is being postponed for the time being.” Todd says that they are working on a reschedule date for the opening.

Consisting of 32 new units of rental housing, McArthur Gardens is the first Permanent Supportive Housing Development located in the City of Chillicothe and Ross County, Ohio.

The 32 one-bedroom units have been co-developed by Integrated Services for Behavioral Health (ISBH), who also owns the property and coordinates service delivery to the residents. Model Group served as co-developer and general contractor. Fairfield Homes manages the development.

Serving chronically homeless individuals in the City of Chillicothe and Ross County, the development was primarily financed by Low Income Housing Tax Credits from the Ohio Housing Finance Agency. Project based rental subsidy was provided by the Balance of State Continuum of Care, ensuring that no resident pays more than 30% of their income on rent. Replacing a blighted school building, the brand-new, LEED certified development contains amenities including an outdoor courtyard, bike racks, resident community room, offices for social service delivery, laundry, off-street parking, and comprehensive security features. Rental units feature energy efficient appliances and come fully furnished. Six units are designed to be fully accessible to assist residents with mobility and/or sensory impairments.

Scioto Paint Valley Mental Health Center gave part of the property for the housing and will have a counseling office in the main complex to help people transition.

Thanks to invaluable support from partners at the Ohio Housing Finance Agency, Ohio Capital Corporation for Housing, Federal Home Loan Bank, Paint Valley “ADAMH” Board/Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, Scioto Paint Valley Mental Health Center, the City of Chillicothe, and RiverHills Bank, McArthur Gardens will provide quality, supportive housing to the most vulnerable members of the Ross County community.
