The (25-2) Meadowbrook Colts halted the (24-3) Adena Warriors efforts to repeat as Division 3 Regional Volleyball champs, with a 25-10, 25-15, 25-12 sweep Saturday at Logan High School.

The Colts high powered front-row attack and scrambling defense thwarted most of the Warriors attempts to draw close, with convincing wins in each set.

Adena fell behind 7-2 on Set #1, only being able to draw as close as 7-5 before Meadowbrook’s relentless hitting attack enabled them to pull away for the 25-10 opening win.

Set #2 saw the Warriors stay a little closer, before the Colts broke away from a 10-8 lead to open leads of several points. Adena got to within 16-13, but never got any closer to fall 25-15 and trail the match (2-0).

Set #3 saw Meadowbrook build a 10-6 lead, before Adena closed the gap to 11-9. That’s when the Colts took off again for leads that quickly jumped into double-digits and continued for a championship 25-12 win.

Meadowbrook was led by 5’9 senior Camden Black with 15 kills and 12 digs, followed by Kendyl Cannon with 8 kills, Megan Devillez and Karly Launder with 6 kills each, followed by Taylor Sichina with 5. Devillez also had 4 blocks. Mila Norman also had double-digit digs with 11. The Colts had 5 serving aces, with Launder and Cannon each with 2.

Adena was powered by 6’1 senior Sydney Foglesong’s 13 kills, while Hannah Burns, Eva Kruger and Brinlee Preston combined for 7 kills total. Carly Bowdle had 3 of Adena’s 4 serving aces. Brooke Bossert had 12 digs, with Kruger, Hannah Burns and Brenna McQuiniff combining for a total of 20 digs between them.

Meadowbrook advances to their school’s first State Final 4 volleyball appearance and improves to (25-2).

Adena ends the season at (24-3), winning the SVC, sectional and district titles, finishing as regional runner-up for the 18th time under Coach Laura Smith.
