NWS: Biggest April 21st Measurable Snow In Southern Ohio Since 1901

The snow that accumulated this morning (4/21/21) wasn’t a major winter snowstorm by any means, but it is proving to be one of the largest measurable accumulations for southern Ohio in more than a century.

The National Weather Service in Wilmington, Ohio reported 2.3 inches of snow fell at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport set a record. The old record was 1.5 inches in 1901. Some areas in northwest Ohio measured 3-4 inches of snow. The Chillicothe area was reporting approximately an inch of snow.

For the most part south of I-70, while there was measurable snow in grassy areas, most area roads were wet, but saw no snow accumulation.

After an overnight/morning low temperature of 32, temps are expected to climb into the mid 40’s today in southern Ohio and return to 50 on Thursday and near 60 on Friday.
