ODOT Announces Public Comment Period For Three Area Road Projects

As part of the Ohio Department of Transportation—District 9’s Planning Department, the district’s Environmental Office is seeking public input for the following projects:

*PIKE COUNTY*

PIK-US 23-15.35 (PID: 105097) – It is proposed to rehabilitate the structure on US 23 at the 15.35 mile mark in Pike County, Ohio. The project is located in a rural area of Pee Pee Township.

The existing structure is a 66” concrete pipe. The rehabilitation of the structure includes the lining of the culvert with a 60” liner pipe.

The project will not require new right-of-way.

The funding for the project is 80% Federal and 20% State. The environmental commitment date is 7/30/2021. The project is currently expected to be awarded 12/13/2021.

*HIGHLAND COUNTY*

HIG-SR 72-2.26 (PID: 103977) – It is proposed to replace the structure on S.R. 72 at the 2.26 mile mark in Highland County. The project is located in a rural area of Fairfield Township.

The existing structure is a three-sided steel arch with reinforced concrete footings. The new structure will be a concrete box culvert with full height headwalls.

The project area will require approximately 0.273 acres of permanent right-of-way. The permanent right-of-way is located along the stream channel, agriculture fields and forested hillside.

The roadway will be closed for the duration of the project.The state detour will be SR 72 to US 62 to SR 28 to SR 72. The state detour is approximately 6.5 miles. The local detour will be SR 72 to TR 294 (Rosher Rd.) to US 62 to CR 22 (Mullen Hill Rd.) to SR 72. The local detour is approximately 4 miles.

The funding for the project is 80% Federal and 20% Local. The environmental commitment date is 7/1/2022. The project is currently expected to be awarded 10/1/2022.

*BROWN COUNTY*

BRO-US 52-3.63 (PID: 110291) – It is proposed to perform a landslide remediation project on U.S. 52 at the 3.63 mile mark in Brown County. The project includes pavement repair and installation guardrail. The project is located in a rural area of Lewis Township.

The Ohio River will be impacted for the project.

The project will require approximately 0.024 acres of permanent right-of-way. The permanent right-of-way is located along the bank of the Ohio River.

No homes or businesses will be removed by the project.

The roadway will be open for the duration of the project.

The funding for the project is 80% Federal and 20% State. The environmental commitment date is 1/1/2022. The project is currently expected to be awarded 5/23/2022.
