Paints Blast Miners 14-4 at VA Memorial Stadium

Kent Reeser (Rio Grande) and Nathan Karaffa (Ohio State) combined for seven runs batted in as the Paints scored a 14-4 victory over West Virginia Thursday night.

The Miners grabbed a 4-2 lead by plating three runs in the 3rd-inning. Chillicothe put together a 6-run 4th and never looked back.

Mitch Milheim (Ohio State) earned the win for Chillicothe.

First place Johnstown edged Champion City 3-1 and maintain a half-game lead over the Paints in the Prospect League Ohio Valley Division.

Chillicothe hits the road for the next six games, not returning to the Stadium until July 30th. The Paints will face West Virginia Friday and visit Champion City Saturday and Sunday. Following a Monday off, they’ll play a three game set in Lafayette with the Aviators Tuesday through Thursday next week.

DIEFENBACH NAMED PL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Paints pitcher Justin Deifenbach (Kean) and Terre Haute’s Kaleb Hannahs share Prospect League Player of the Week honors for the week. Diefenbach pitched a complete game Saturday, striking out five Danville batters, walking one and limiting the Dans to three hits.

Hannahs hit .555, 5 Runs, 8 Hits, 2 Doubles, and 3 RBIs for the week.
