Ross County Senior Citizens Invited To Seek Homestead Property Tax Relief

Article Presented By McDonald’s…

(CHillicothe) – Ross County Auditor Jeff Lehner has invited Ross County homeowners aged 65 or older and those under age 65 who are permanently disabled to see if they qualify for Ohio’s homestead property tax exemption.

“Qualifying Ross County seniors who haven’t already should call the Auditor’s real estate office to apply for their 2024 property tax reductions.  Eligibility for the homestead program has been expanded this year to include more applicants,” Lehner said.  “I want every Ross County taxpayer to save every dollar they can, and for the homestead exemption program it all starts with an application.”

To qualify, applicants must have an Ohio Adjusted Gross Household Income under $36,100 on their most recent state income tax return. Permanent, 100% service-related disabled veterans are not subject to this requirement.

The deadline to apply for the 2024 homestead exemption for tax year 2023 is December 31, 2023.  For more information, Ross County residents can call the Auditor’s real estate office at (740) 702-3080 or visit https://Auditor.RossCountyOhio.gov >> Forms >> Homestead Exemption Forms
