14-Year-Old Race Car Champ Recounts 2021 Season

Frankfort’s Austin Hill hopes to be an Indy Car racer one day, and he’s off to an impressive start in what one day could fulfill that goal.

The 14-year-old Adena School District student is the 2021 Formula Race Promotions Atlantic Season Champion, the youngest driver to ever accomplish that feat.

On Wednesday, Austin learned he had also won the points title for the SCCA Hoosier Super Tour National Championship in the FX Class.

Hill joined Mike Smith on Litter Media LIVE- Special Edition, Tuesday, to discuss how he got into racing and where he hopes it will take him from here. Austin also talks about how he conditions himself for the grueling race circuit, including his he keeps up with his school work over the 30-week race season.

Hill Garners Two Top 6 Finishes At SCCA In Indy

14-year-old Austin Hill of Frankfort continues to impress the Formula Race Car world, with a couple of top 6 finishes over the weekend at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Hill placed third in the FX Division and sixth in the Atlantic Division. The Atlantic was a rain shortened race. Hill’s father, Andy, told Litter Media that Austin was in fourth place when it started to rain, losing a couple of places when he came into the pits to change tires for the rain.

Austin is expected to finish the 2021 season in Pittsburgh, later in October.

Local Teen Makes His Mark Among Top Formula Race Car Drivers

A local teenager has darted into the spotlight of the Formula Race Car circuit, despite his youthful age of 14.

The racing world is talking about Austin Hill of Frankfort and it has been more than just talk on Austin’s part, climbing quickly to the top of his sport where he is one of the favorites to win the SCCA National Championship, which start September 25th and run through October 3rd at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Austin is picked to win the FX Class and Third in the Formula Atlantic Class in his rookie year, where he is also the youngest competitor among mostly adult race car drivers.  

Hill has already won several races as he is trying to move his way to Indy Race circuit.

Following the SCCA National Championship race at Indianapolis, Austin Hill will have one more race weekend in October at the Pittsburgh International Race Complex on October 15th, where the race season closes.
