Waverly Tennis Trio State Bound With District Championships

Three Waverly Boys Tennis players won district championships over the weekend at Ohio University, and now advance to the State Tournament this weekend.

Penn Morrison won the district singles title, beating Athens’ Luke Frost 6-1/6-0. Morrison only lost 2 games all weekend, and never dropped a set. Frost advanced to the final with a three-set win over Minford’s Charlie Neal. Frost will also qualify for the state tournament with his runner-up finish.

The Tigers’ doubles team of Waylon Lamerson and Caden Nibert won their title match over the team from East Liverpool 6-2/7-5.

The OHSAA State Tournament will be May 27-28 at The Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason, Ohio.
