Big plans are on the drawing board for several DHL supply chain buildings to locate in the Pickaway County Village of Ashville. That was confirmed to Litter Media’s Mike Smith by Ashville Mayor Chuck Wise during a phone conversation Monday morning.
A proposal for seven buildings that total approximately 5.9 million square feet under roof has already received a first reading before Ashville Council, according to Wise. The buildings and property acquisition, which are still in the planning phase, would be located in the Ashville Enterprise Zone on the village’s west side. The zone has been in Ashville since the mid 1980’s.
Once completed, the DHL buildings would employ approximately 2,500 people, supplying warehoused materials to industry and other business in the region. Ashville’s village income tax would collect from each person that works at the site.
Mayor Wise says “This will be a big boom for our town and will allow us to get caught up on our road maintenance.” Wise added that it will also enable the creation of a connector road between State Routes 316 and 752.
No abatement has been offered to DHL by the village, not that it couldn’t be offered in years to come, according to Wise.
