Lady Shermans Impressive In Win At Bloom Carroll

Two unbeaten teams collided in what was billed as two of the areas top two Division 2 girls basketball teams, as Unioto traveled to Bloom Carroll’s Tom Petty Gymnasium Friday.

The game was close through the first half, with the Lady Bulldogs up 10-9 after the first quarter. Their lead stretched to 19-14 late in the second quarter, but the tide started turning Unioto’s direction when the Lady Shermans closed on a 5-0 run as Milee Smith scored on back-to-back steals and converted buckets to tie the contest 19-19 at halftime.

Bloom Carroll grabbed an early 22-19 lead to start the second half, only to see Unioto go on a 15-0 run and had a 36-23 advantage at the end of the third period. The Tanks never were in any danger in the final quarter, closing for the 45-34 victory to improve to (11-0). It was Bloom Carroll’s first loss of the season (10-1).

Unioto’s Amelia Uhrig led her team with 16 points and 16 rebounds, followed by Milee Smith’s 14 points. Marissa Wilkinson led Bloom Carroll with 17 points. The Lady Shermans forced 18 BC turnovers for the game.
