Washington Baseball and Softball Coaches Step-Down

Two successful and well-known Washington City School Spring sports coaches are leaving their respective programs. Varsity Baseball Coach Mark Schwartz and Varsity Girls Softball Coach Rick Foose recently submitted their resignations.

Schwartz led the Blue Lions baseball team to FAC championships the last two seasons, a Regional appearance in 2022 and a State Final Four spot in 2023. His son is a senior at Muskingum University this coming Fall.

Foose coached the Lady Blue Lions in 15 of the last 21 years, in two different stints. He is leaving to teach math at Teays Valley School District.
